With the smoking ban well and truly in place, there has never been a better time to quit smoking. There are many benefits with quitting smoking and with there being fewer places you can "spark up"; the only place you can really freely smoke is within your own home. One of the main benefits of quitting smoking is the fact that you will save an extraordinary amount of money. If you smoke a packet of 20 cigarettes per day, at approximately £5 per day, this is £35 per week on cigarettes alone. Every month, by quitting smoking, you could save £140; money better spent on other things.
Not only will your bank balance be much healthier, your body will be much healthier as well, with reduced risk of getting cancer and heart disease. As well as this, you will smell much better, you will be able to breathe easier and within a short time of quitting smoking, your blood pressure and pulse rates drop to almost the same rates as those of a non-smoker.
After just 24 hours of stopping smoking, there will be no more carbon monoxide in your body and your lungs start clearing out the toxins and such like that smoking leaves behind. After just 48 hours of your last cigarette, your breathing will be much easier and your senses of taste and smell will be much improved.
Smoking cessation can bring about some pretty awful side effects and you will find that you crave cigarettes for a long time after you have given up, but in the long term you will find that quitting smoking is well worth all the "agonies" it brings. So do yourself a favour today and look up smoking cessation in your quest to stop smoking.
